Membership

Goals and Objectives

Our highest priority is to carefully evaluate the number of member vacancies that our Club may have, to encourage new member proposals to fill those vacancies, and to oversee the process of inviting and assimilating new members. We hope to continue to attract stellar women from the community who have a genuine interest in our core mission, and who will make strong and engaged members that will reflect well upon the PGC. We will also be sure to monitor meeting and obligation attendance to assist current members remain in good standing. Lastly, we will keep careful track of changes in current members' contact information and oversee any requests for change in status.

Planned Events

We plan to honor our Associates at the January meeting. We will hold a separate and confidential membership meeting to review and vote on potential candidates for a membership invitation to the PGC.

  • SHELLEY ALLEN

I grew up in Michigan the oldest of six children. In 1978 I met my husband Bob Kohorst while he was clerking for the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. When his term was up, I took a leave of absence from teaching and moved to California to see if I liked him and California. 44 years later it still works. We have two children: Kevin (37 years old) who is married to Kate and Matt (34 years old) who will be marrying Jennifer in September. Kevin and Kate have blessed us with two grandchildren William (9) and Charlotte (6 ½) who have followed in their father and uncle’s footsteps by attending Chandler. From January 2018 until January 2022 Bob and I lived in Zagreb, Croatia, where Bob served as the U.S. Ambassador. Croatia was an unbelievable adventure, but we are glad to be back in the U.S. with our family and friends. We love traveling, spending time with family and friends and doing and watching lots of sports.

  • JOAN FAUVRE

Joan Fauvre grew up in a small town in Louisiana, went to Atlanta after college where she met her husband, John, who was working as a lawyer for Atlanta Legal Aid. When John left for Istanbul Joan joined him for an adventure (it was the 60s and Europe on $5/day!). Following a wedding in Louisiana in 1971 they settled in Pasadena, John’s home town, and live only a couple of blocks away from his childhood home next to the Lower Arroyo. After receiving her California Teaching Credential and Master’s at Pacific Oaks College, Joan taught 3rd grade at Atwater Elementary in Los Angeles Unified School District until her first child was born, and then for the next 18 years she was a stay at home Mom and community volunteer. Joan served on several boards of local nonprofits—the Armory Center for the Arts, Young and Healthy, Junior League, YWCA, Pacific Oaks College, Pasadena Child Health Foundation, Pasadena Educational Foundation. When her three children began to leave home for college Joan went to work as the first Executive Director for the Pasadena Educational Foundation combining her interest in education and the broader community. After 25 years as Executive Director, Joan retired in 2010 to spend more time traveling to visit her children, two of whom live in the Bay Area and one in New York. With six grandchildren to visit and places to see Joan and John travel often. While home in Pasadena Joan plays tennis, hikes, walks, gardens, reads, plays bridge and loves to cook and entertain (except during Covid). Her volunteer commitments are now fewer and she looks forward to active participation in the Garden Club.
